Chocolate Almond Sans Rival

My new favorite cake is Chocolate Almond Sans Rival from Conti’s. I was given a whole box by a pancreatic cancer patient, and it was great. Usually I just have my mom cut these gifts into tiny pieces to be distributed to whoever wants it, but this time I asked that she leave me a whole, calorrific slice!

In the spirit of gluttony, hedonism, and diabetic ketoacidosis, I find that these cakes are best served with red wine, so I broke open a bottle of Red Moscato given to me last Christmas and drank about seven drops of it. On a somehow related note, my favorite dessert during annual conventions and other events held in hotels is a tiny, tiny piece of leche flan placed beside a huge piece of watermelon, with the watermelon juice running into the base of the leche flan.

I’ve seen the documentary The Kingmaker last October, and the most remarkable thing about it that left my jaw on the floor was not the conversion of an island into a private safari, or the remark that he shouldn’t be seen flying economy, but that in one scene one of my friends from med school was seen giving the imeldific one a bouquet of flowers for her birthday! Looking back I never really knew her political persuasion anyway, but I immediately messaged her to clear the air. Apparently she was working as a physician in an NGO at that time, and they were required to give the flowers. We breathed a sigh of relief.
