Ghostina Mae

Historically August has always been a ghost month in terms of finances, so this time I said, you know what I won’t resist it! And I would stop resisting it… by not coming to the clinics as frequently as I should! At least that was the plan, because my secretary, Claudette Dimayuga would always update me with the patient list for the following day, causing severe anxiety and irritable bowel syndrome. In other words, the patient load this month has been as heavy the previous months.

After one such very toxic clinic day I decided to have dinner at the mall, walking in a daze as Tori Amos blared from my iphone: “You bet your life it is! You bet your life it is!” And then I saw Nanyang, and remembered Monch Weller’s reviews, so Nanyang it is! I had the Nasi Lemak, which was huge. I quite enjoyed it, that I went back a few days later and had the chicken rice! They were great, but I had a bit of difficulty with the gigantic Nasi Lemak, and finished only half of the rice and the condiments. As for the chicken rice, the proportion seems a bit off. Like the rice should be smaller, or the chicken should be bigger.

I haven’t taken any elevator or any mirror selfies my entire life, but while waiting for the chicken rice to arrive there was a huge mirror in front of me, and I was by myself, and I noticed that with enough traction from the super tight N95, lack of sleep, and botox, I sort of look… Chinese.
