Attended my first Christmas party of the year, primarily because it was organized by my friend Dan who is the husband of my friend Hatchett. The Department of Internal Medicine of the Healthway Qualimed Sta. Rosa hospital held the party in Mary Grace in Solenad 3 in Nuvali. Of course there had to be a theme, and to make it easy for everyone the theme was simple: creative “hats”. As expected I couldn’t comply with the simplest thing: I just brought my favorite pink Snoopy cap from Miniso.
I asked Hatchett if Dan had chosen Mary Grace because of Mary Grace Piattos. Hatchett just looked at me blankly, and asked what the hell I am talking about. Apparently Hatchett had chosen to shield herself from all the stresses of media and social media, and therefore has no idea who Mary Grace Piattos is. I told her that nobody has any idea who Mary Grace Piattos is. For context, the congress is currently investigating fund utilization and other money issues surrounding the Department of Education under VP Sara Duterte, and they had discovered a lot of questionable documents. One such questionable document is a receipt with the payee named Mary Grace Piattos, which made everyone think that the one fabricating the receipt was eating Piattos potato chips at the time.
It’s all very entertaining, but I think Hatchett has the right idea. As thrilling as these congressional hearings are they are also very, very triggering, specially when resource speakers talk about gazillions of pesos like they’re nothing. In the meantime, the regular minimum-wage employee has to make do with P700 pesos per day for all the basic necessities.
Anyway, I joined a parlor game. Our group lost, but I got a box of Milka Choco Mini Stars cookies as consolation prize. Yum. What I’m really craving for, though, is Piattos.
