Six Degrees of Separation

The recent White House siege reminds me of something out of the tv series Homeland and its cousin 24. I could have said that it reminds me of that battle between Wonder Woman and Punk Rock Cheetah, but the less we remind ourselves of the atrocity that is Wonder Woman 84 the better. Still, we can try to connect the current events to Punk Rock Cheetah in a roundabout way.

We used to watch 24 back in clerkship, when marathoning a show via DVD like a total sloth was starting to become a thing. I would always hear my friends Hippura and Keyser, who were in the other room, screaming at the harrowing death traps that Jack Bauer was always able to escape with ease. Sometimes they would stop screaming, and I suspected that they were eating each others’ faces. They would marry each other many years later, so my suspicions were most probably right.

And because there are 24 hours ie 24 episodes to fill up, they had to put in some minor problems that the characters would have to face. They can’t all be huge terrorist explosions and major espionage double-crossings. So in one episode while Jack Bauer’s teenage daughter Kim was walking quietly in the park her foot got caught in some kind of trap, and what should she see walking sexily and hungrily towards her direction but a… Cheetah! Or was it… a cougar!
