Long Enough

Consistently getting mortified–but not really surprised–at all the errors on my manuscript. I’ve been re-reading the darn thing for over a year now, most of the entries I’ve even written over ten years ago, so the flow and the tone that I’m super familiar with must have really made it difficult for me to spot technical errors. I”ve sent a copy to about ten people for advice on grammar and content issues–and to ask for permission for their cameos–and about five people have sent feedback. So far have gotten three award-winning, published writers to blurb. I drove all the way to Tagaytay through the holiday traffic to work on it further with Feyd Reutha, who was able to point out the most horrific grammatical errors of all time. I asked if my photo working on it could be taken, just in case the project takes off and I could profit off a making-of story. Who knows. ^^

Been able to catch-up on some TV shows the past few days. Only Murders In This Building, starring Steve Martin, is great. It was recommended in the year-end special of my favorite comic book podcast, iFanboy. Law and Order Special Victims Unit, and Law and Order Organized Crime, had another cross-over, so Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson were able to work again on a case. Stabler has been gone for over ten years, and since his return all Olivia ever did was take care of him. Finally Olivia had to point it out: this has become a one-way relationship, all I ever did was listen to you and you haven’t even asked how my life has been during your ten-year absence. Feeling ‘yah Liv. The SATC sequel, And Just Like That, has been fun, but I see how it can be viewed as too self-conscious in trying to deal with current issues of age, gender, and sex. Not the biggest MCU fan, but I’ll try to watch WandaVision and Shang-Chi. I slept through most of Avengers: Endgame, so hopefully I would still understand these Phase 4 shows. For Christmas-themed tv I might watch the X-Files episode “How The Ghosts Stole Christmas”, and an Ally McBeal Christmas episode.

I had received many gifts in the weeks leading to Christmas, and I was able to redistribute them to people suddenly showing up on Christmas morning. I got all kinds of gourmet bagoong, peanut butter, preserved fish, chocolates, wines, gift baskets, and more SNR and Lander’s goods than would be necessary for an isolation/nuclear explosion bunker. I’ve read a Roald Dahl collection of “adult” short stories. I have only really been familiar with his children’s books, and am genuinely surprised at how fun the adult collections are.

In 2022 I plan to read more books, write more, get less stressed, and re-kindle my interest in travel. Not really. Maybe I’ll just try, just like last year, to not die.
