I haven’t bought an action figure in such a long time–me being in my ruthless anti-clutter era– but this Hawkman figure from the Black Adam movie has beckoned. Figures with histrionic wings always seem to appeal to collectors, but I have long gotten over this because these figures are always super hard to position upright. They will always topple over and knock all the figures around them–I’m talking about you, Man-Bat, Archangel, and all the other iterations of Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Still, this particular Hawkman is quite appealing because of its golden wings. I don’t recall any such version in the comics, because how the heck is he going to fly with a gold-encrusted pair of wings. We know, Nth metal. As I was taking a photo of it in UCC Cafe in Rob Manila I started to feel like an idiot doing it in a public place, but then I felt more like an idiot upon the realization that nobody really cares. If people can block the stairs just to perform something for TikTok, then no public arena is off limits.

In other news, there’s a circulating rumor that a super typhoon is brewing. I say circulating rumor, because I have completely blocked off any news sites, and have deactivated Twitter. I actually reactivated Twitter this morning because the 30-day limit of deactivation is almost up. Two minutes into scrolling I was already barraged with all the vitriol of the universe, so I summarily deactivated it again!
