A Book Signing… EVENT!

The books that my friend Deo had mass-ordered for the Department of Internal Medicine in Mary Mediatrix had arrived, and we decided to have a mini-book signing. As doctors we write and sign so many things, but if I should point out one particular event in my life that had prepared me for this, that would be the signing of the sig-sheets for our college org! A sig-sheet is that tiny booklet distributed among applicants, and part of the application process is that they should get all the members’s signatures. The members could require them to do stuff, like sing and dance, before they give their signatures. As it was an academic organization the application process was done in the spirit of tradition and fun, and nobody had required anybody to do anything horrific. I’m not sure if they still have sig-sheets these days, or if it is a tradition that has been rendered obsolete.

My newly-minted Executive Secretary/Manager/Bouncer, Dr. Deo Bayani. Direct all bookings (feeling!), complaints, and litigations to him.

I was informed by many friends that the book is now sold-out in Lazada, and I asked our production manager Frey if it was because the book was such a big hit! Not quite, apparently, because a glitch has made ordering via Lazada difficult: only a limited number of copies could be booked per day, and once they are sold-out you have to wait another day. The publisher is trying to fix this.

So far we’ve had two signings, the other one being the MIBF 2022. We haven’t officially had a book launching yet, and had been having talks with the publisher and the production manager on where to do it. Frey then sent me a message, which is what I would consider the Viber Message of the Year. She asked: Saan po ang Shrine Motherfucker? We want to do the book launch there!

Unfortunately, the Shrine Motherfucker has closed down when the pandemic struck. It was the Gloria Jeans branch in the Pan Pacific Hotel along Adriatico, which became Sheraton. “Too bad,” Atty. A, the publisher, said. “I would’ve wanted to go to the mic and announce, ‘Welcome, everyone, to the Shrine Motherfucker!’”

The book is still available via the following:

Lazada- but again, better to book in the morning!; the Milflores Publishing website Milflorespublishing.com; and my clinics in Manila Med (room 238) and Mary Mediatrix Medical Center (room 226). If you’re somewhere in the Philippines I can also ask our clinic secretary to send to you via LBC! Coming soon to Fullybooked and hopefully Amazon.

  1. Good pm Doc!

Congratulations! Is there a possibility that we can order a signed copy Doc? And can we request a message be written in the book (kahit one line lang)? Thank you very much.

  2. Congratulations on the book signing! Do you know if/when your book will be available in the US? I went to the publishing website and it said they don’t ship to my area. 😮
