Went on a quick trip to Boracay, as in Friday to Sunday quick, and I am now feeling the repercussions of my debauchery! Two days back into work and I feel like I need to plot a mini-vacation again. It’s not even like I actually missed work, so it wasn’t a matter of work that had piled up. What this is is punishment for all the spontaneous fun (ie, calories) I had. Of course I don’t really believe that, but the amount of work the past two days made me want to split into multiple bodies, as in trilocate. Sins don’t go unpunished. Such sins include:
Chori Burger and Carbonara from Sunnyside Cafe

A plate of peri-peri chicken and roast pork from Spice Bird

Pizza and Chicken Parmigiana from Aria

Coconut Mango iceflakes from Ice Flakes Boracay

And my new favorite, Dokito Frito from Andok’s. I can’t believe I hadn’t tried this ubiquitous fried chicken before. The cheapest and one of the best meals of the trip!

December turned out to be a good month for Boracay. There was just the right volume of tourists, as most people are busy with their Christmas parties in Manila. We got a poolside room in Hennan Park, which was apparently quite a walk away from the beach. There was a long, dark, narrow eskinita between two buildings that one can walk through to get to the beach, but there was always the risk of injury by stepping on a rusty nail or dead spiky animal, like a hedgehog.

I’ve seen so many patients since yesterday, did a lot of chemo, and only had salad, so I feel like I have already paid for these sins. Tomorrow Wednesday should be great!
