I am dangerously close to getting banned from many of my friends’ Viber groups, because I’ve been regularly screencapping and sharing a common friend’s vile socio-political commentaries to all these groups. To be fair, like most of us, I’ve also unfollowed, let’s call him Barry, a long time ago. But he is so fascinating kase! So I frequently visit his page to check for new rants, and share them with people who have no intention of seeing them! I’m just waiting for someone to file a case against me for “unjust vexation”. I have reached that point of no return when I get totally disappointed whenever Barry fails to post something sensational and incendiary.

I try to justify this, of course, by claiming that I can’t be the only one who burns my eyes (albeit self-inflicted) with this level of toxicity! I have to share the revulsion! Distribute the misery! Diffuse the irritation! Spread the risk of bursting occult aneurysms! Ask other people to carry this existential burden with me, in the spirit of bayanihan!
When I saw Varicella Zosterina a few days ago she told me outright, with more sternness than I had ever seen her exhibit: STOP SHARING BARRY’S POSTS!
Fine. I am going to stop, this post being my ultimate, formal declaration.

I can relate somehow. hehe I used to share some screencaps of a former nursing school batchmate’s anti-vax rantings and share them on friends’ WhatsApp groups because I can’t be the only one feeling disgusted by her appalling posts. A close friend/classmate told me to stop sharing screenshots because according to her, “…the world is chaotic enough, she can burn in that special place in hell for anti-vaxxers when she dies. So just go back to sharing cat memes and tea recommendations. Thanks!” I stopped. 🙂
